whenever you see a beautiful woman

flamingoon:

do not compare yourself to her

she is beautiful

you are beautiful

you both are two different kinds of beautiful

you can’t compare the sun to the moon

and you shouldn’t

so when you see that woman

you say “god bless her” and “god bless me”

and keep it moving, love.

MTSU Step Show 2013: Alpha Kappa Alpha (by OVStudios)

What the fuck is this shit? The caption clearly says that the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho won the 10,000 dollar grand prize because they were the winners. So why are these “increDiblE Hulky” Divas up here grinning like chester katz on the top page like they won or something? With this big ass !0th place sticker…I mean trophy.

Maybe you’ve just started to pursue a higher education. Maybe you’ve spent your adult life paying off debt from school. Either way, you’ve probably got questions about why college costs so much, what can be done about it, and if it’s even worth doing in the first place.
You should ask those questions to the President of the United States.
On Tuesday, June 10, our Founder/CEO, David, will head down to Washington to host a live conversation about education with President Obama. David will ask your questions. The President will answer them, out of his mouth, in front of the world.
(The White House will also be picking out a few question-askers to join us in person. If having the President’s ear isn’t enough, maybe standing on his carpet is.)
Submit your questions by midnight on Sunday, June 8. Then tune in to the White House Tumblr on Tuesday, June 10. See you in DC!

Will definitely be sending in  a few questions of my own. Everyone else should do the same?

Purpose

After a seven month long journey of self reflection, I’ve come to realize a lot about myself. I have realized that I am strong, beautiful, and influential. I have realized that I have the ability to create an impact on people’s lives that will last with them for their entire lifetime. I realized that I possess capabilities that will aid me in my quest for greatness. I am a leader and a innovator. I have a mind that is powerful beyond belief. A mind that has been waiting on me to unlock its true power and potential. God has given me everything that I need and has been waiting for me to realize it. I learned that fear is my biggest enemy. The acceptance of fear causes me to shrivel and constrict my natural abilities. In order for me to be successful and life and fulfill my purpose, I must eliminate the idea of fear. I am meant to impact the world. I am meant to help other people realize the greatness locked within themselves. God has put me on this Earth and has given me this breathe for a reason. I am not here to simply float around on this Planet aimless until I die. I am here  for a reason. I have Purpose

….. Nicki forever.

Can we get into the handling the misogyny in context in culture and appropriately.

Can we talk about using a community of women as support ?

Can we talk about how this form of cultural SnapBack been around since Big Mama Thorton ?

And then let’s talk about how these dynamics of BW cultural agency get erased ?
To perpetuate savior myths , and respectability and WW fantasies of BW strength or being BW saviors?

Like realize that the next time we talk shit on her , talk shit about hip hop as inherently misogynistic or decide to get in a pulpit and say down dumb shit
